Direct offers

Offering a job to one player instead of the job board, and what happens on accept or decline.

Sometimes an employer already knows who they want. A direct offer skips the job board and sends the job to one player, who can accept or decline it.

The confirm step sends an offer, the player finds it in Offers, and then accept takes the job, a decline set to Goes to the job board opens the job for everyone, and a decline set to Gets cancelled refunds the employer

Making an offer

Pick Direct Offer on the mode step of the posting menus and choose the player there, or do it later on the last posting step (Confirm):

  1. Press Offer to a Player and pick a player. Only online players you can see are listed, and never yourself.
  2. Press If Declined to switch between:
    • Goes to the job board: a decline puts the job on the board for everyone. This is the default.
    • Gets cancelled: a decline cancels the job and the pay goes back to your claims.
  3. Changed your mind? Post Publicly removes the offer again.
  4. Press Post Job. The pay is taken as usual.

Direct offers can be turned off with posting.modes.direct-offer: false in config.yml, which also hides the Offer to a Player button.

The player gets a message straight away. An offered job counts toward your limits.max-open-postings, just like an open one.

Receiving an offer

Offers are listed in /hirehall offers, and the main menu shows how many are waiting. Open one to see the full job, then:

  • Accept Offer takes the job right away. The same rules as taking from the board apply: you need hirehall.take, a free job slot, and the employer needs a free hire slot. See Taking and working jobs.
  • Decline Offer asks for confirmation, then does what the employer chose. The employer is told either way.

Things to know

  • The deadline runs while the offer waits. An offer nobody answers expires like any other job and the employer gets the pay back.
  • The employer can cancel an offered job from /hirehall postings at any time before it is accepted. The offered player is told.
  • Direct offers are never broadcast, even when the pay is above the broadcast threshold. If a declined offer goes to the board, it can be broadcast then.
