Community jobs

Orders that anyone can help fill, with every delivery paid per unit straight away.

A community job is a big order that many players can fill together. The employer asks for, say, 64 Diamond at 50 each. Anyone can hand in any part of it, and every delivery is paid at once, so nobody has to wait for the whole order to be done.

An employer posts a community job for 64 Diamond at 50 each with the whole budget held in escrow, three players deliver 20, 30 and 14 and are each paid quantity times unit price, the items go to the employer's claims, and the job completes when all 64 are in with any budget left refunded

Posting one

Pick Community on the mode step of the posting menus. A community job:

  • pays with money only, so the payment step is skipped and item payments are not offered
  • is always priced per unit, the pricing switch is hidden
  • only works for job types where items are handed in: GATHER types and any type set to mode: DELIVERY (see Jobs and job types)

The whole budget (amount times unit price) is taken from your balance when you post, just like any other job. The total must be between the currency's min-pay and max-pay.

Community jobs can be turned off with posting.modes.community: false in config.yml.

Delivering to one

Community jobs sit on the job board like any other open job, but there is nothing to take. Instead:

  1. Open the job from the board. The Community Order panel shows how many were requested, how many are delivered, how many remain, the unit price and the budget left.
  2. Press Deliver Items. This opens the deliver menu.
  3. Put the items in the empty slots and press Deliver. Or press Deliver from Inventory, which hands in every matching item from your inventory at once, up to what the job still needs.
  • Anyone except the employer can deliver, as long as they have hirehall.take. It does not use one of their job slots.
  • Each delivery is paid straight away: the amount delivered times the unit price. Server tax applies. The money goes through claims, so it lands in your balance when you are online and is paid when you next join if you are not.
  • Items past what the job still needs, and items that do not match, come back to you. Nothing is dropped.
  • Several players can deliver at the same moment. Each delivery is counted once and the job never takes more than it asked for.

When it ends

What happensResult
The full amount is deliveredThe job completes. Any budget left is refunded to the employer, and everyone who delivered gets a completed job on their profile
The employer cancels itThe budget left is refunded. Items already delivered stay with the employer
The deadline passesSame as cancelling, the budget left is refunded

The employer finds all delivered items in /hirehall claim, and gets a message for each delivery and when the job completes.

Ratings do not apply to community jobs, since there is no single worker to rate.
