FAQ
The questions that come up most often about installing, configuring and running Vowbound.
Why does Vowbound refuse to load on my server?
It needs eco installed and enabled first, it's a hard dependency rather than a soft one. A missing or too old eco logs a clear line and Vowbound disables itself rather than throwing halfway through startup.
Do I need FancyNpcs or Citizens?
No. Either is optional, and picked in that priority order if installed. With neither, Vowbound spawns a plain villager as the Father itself, and every feature still works the same either way. See NPC providers.
Can two players of the same gender marry?
Yes. Vowbound isn't gendered at all, there's no bride or groom anywhere in the plugin, only "partner".
Where do I set up MySQL or MongoDB for Vowbound?
You don't, not in Vowbound's own config. Marriage data goes through eco's persistent
data layer, and the backend is chosen in eco's config.yml, not Vowbound's. See
Storage.
A church shows as "setup incomplete", what's missing?
All five of corners 1 and 2, the altar, the Father position and the entrance need to be
set before a church is ready. /marry admin church info <id> shows exactly which parts
are done. See Churches.
Can I change which sound plays during a ceremony?
Yes, two ways. ceremony.music.procession/pronouncement in config.yml sets the
server-wide default, and /marry admin church music <id> <phase> <sound> overrides just
the sound for one church, none clears the override back to the default.
A custom vow got rejected, why?
Either it was longer than vows.max-length, or it matched something in
vows.blocked-words. MiniMessage tags are also stripped from anything a player types, so
a vow can't be used to inject formatting.
Does the ceremony really pause if someone disconnects?
Not exactly. ceremony.reconnect-grace-seconds stops the ceremony from being cancelled
outright if a partner disconnects, and cancels with a refund if they don't return in
time, but the ceremony's own phase timers keep running in the background the whole time
either way. See The ceremony.
I changed npc.provider, why is the old NPC still there?
Run /marry admin reload. Changing the config key alone doesn't move anything until the
plugin reloads and re-places every NPC through whichever provider is now active.
Can I use a chest GUI plugin's menus alongside Vowbound?
Yes. Vowbound's own menus are eco GUI menus, they don't conflict with anything a different plugin opens.
