The ceremony

The six phases from procession to cleanup, and every line, delay and sound that drives them.

A ceremony is a scripted sequence run per church. Every line, delay and sound in it is something you can change in the config.

The six ceremony phases in order: procession, welcome, vows, the question, pronouncement, cleanup, each one an arrow into the next.

Starting one

Both partners must be engaged to each other and standing inside a ready church. Either /marry ceremony start or right clicking the Father NPC and choosing start from the ceremony menu begins it, charging fees.marriage up front.

The six phases

Procession

Both are teleported to the altar, guests are announced, and the region locks: PvP, block break, block place and item drop can each be turned on or off independently under protection: while a ceremony is running there.

ceremony:
  procession-seconds: 10
  music:
    procession:
      sound: MUSIC_DISC_OTHERSIDE

Welcome

The Father speaks lines from ceremony.welcome, spaced by ceremony.line-delay-ticks. ceremony.welcome-actionbar also shows each line to the couple in their action bar.

Vows

Each partner speaks in turn. A preset from vows.presets can be chosen from the ceremony menu, or /marry vow <text> for a custom one.

vows:
  max-length: 100
  timeout-seconds: 45
  blocked-words: []

A custom vow has MiniMessage tags stripped and only basic punctuation allowed, is checked against vows.blocked-words, and falls back to the first preset if nobody answers in vows.timeout-seconds.

The question

Each partner confirms by clicking "I do" in chat or typing /marry ceremony ido, within question.timeout-seconds. Either declining, with /marry ceremony decline, or timing out cancels the ceremony and refunds fees.marriage.

Pronouncement

The marriage is recorded, both get a ring from rings.item, unbreakable, named for both partners and dated with the wedding day, fireworks go off at the altar in the colours from effects.fireworks.colours, and the marriage is announced server wide.

rings:
  item: 'gold_nugget name:"<#e0577f>Wedding Ring"'
effects:
  fireworks:
    count: 5
    colours: [WHITE, PINK, GOLD]

Cleanup

Music stops after ceremony.music.outro-seconds, guests are unseated after seats.unseat-after-seconds, the region unlocks, and the church is free again.

Only one at a time

A church runs one ceremony at a time. Starting a second at a busy church is rejected. /marry admin ceremony cancel <id> stops a running ceremony from the admin side and refunds the fee, same as a decline or a timeout would.

Disconnecting mid-ceremony

ceremony.reconnect-grace-seconds gives a disconnected partner time to come back before the ceremony is cancelled and refunded. This does not pause the ceremony's own timers, it only guards against a partner never returning: if they reconnect within the grace period nothing is lost, but the ceremony keeps moving through its phases in the background the whole time either way.

Seating guests

/marry attend <church> seats a guest during an active ceremony, capped at seats.max-guests. See Churches for adding seats, and Married life for what happens if a seated guest sneaks, dies, or leaves the region.

Anniversaries

anniversary:
  enabled: true
  rewards:
    amount:
      min: 1
      max: 1
    pool:
      - chance: 100
        commands:
          - 'eco give {player} 100'
      - chance: 25
        commands:
          - 'give {player} diamond 1'

On login, on the yearly anniversary of married-at, both partners get a message and a weighted draw from anniversary.rewards.pool: amount.min/max decides how many sections fire, each section's chance is its weight against whatever is left in the pool, and every command in a picked section runs together as one reward, never just one command on its own.
