Tab list and nametags
The two built in output surfaces, when to use them, and when to use a placeholder instead.
NationCrest can write the flag into the tab list and above players' heads itself. Both are conveniences for servers that have nothing else doing that job.
If you already run a tab list or nametag plugin, do not use these. Put %nationcrest_display% into the plugin you already have. That is the better route and it is why the placeholders exist.
Tab list
On by default.
tab-list:
enabled: true
format: '{display} {player}'| Placeholder | What it is |
|---|---|
{display} | The flag with display.format and the country's colour applied |
{player} | The player's name |
The name is refreshed when a player joins, when they toggle their flag, when an admin overrides their country, and on /flag reload.
Turn this off if you run a dedicated tab list plugin. Both write the tab list name and they will overwrite each other, with whichever ran last winning.
Turning it off and running /flag reload puts every online player's tab list name back to their plain name straight away.
Nametags
Off by default, on purpose.
nametag:
enabled: false
format: '{display} 'The trailing space keeps the flag off the player's name.
Scoreboard teams are a shared resource on a Minecraft server. Any other plugin that writes nametag prefixes will conflict with this one, no matter how careful the code is. There is no way around that. This feature is for servers with nothing else touching nametags.
NationCrest registers one team per country in use rather than one per player, so the team count stays small. Every team it creates is removed when the plugin shuts down and when you switch the feature off and reload. Players are taken out of their team when they leave, and a country team nobody is left in is removed straight away.
The conflict warning
conflict-warning: trueOn start, and again after a reload, NationCrest checks whether a plugin known to own the tab list or nametags is installed while the matching feature here is switched on. If so, it logs one clear line suggesting the placeholder route instead.
It only warns. It will not disable the feature for you and it will not change any of your settings. That decision is yours.
Set conflict-warning: false to silence it once you have made that decision.
