Selection and Regions

Marking a cuboid and turning it into a region.

Everything RegenZones does happens inside a region. A region is a cuboid, on one world, with its own block rules. This page covers making a selection and turning it into a region. For what a region can watch for, see Block Rules.

Making a selection

Run /rz wand to get the selection wand (needs regenzones.wand). The item, its name and its lore are all set in config.yml under selection, so you can reskin it.

  • Left click a block to set position 1.
  • Right click a block to set position 2.

Both clicks send a confirmation message with the coordinates.

Selections are cuboid, per world, and cleared when you quit. selection.max-region-volume in config.yml can cap how big a selection is allowed to be, in blocks. 0 means no limit.

Turning a selection into a region

Run /rz create <name> with an active selection. Region names are unique and case insensitive.

A region holds:

  • a name
  • the world and the two corner positions
  • an enabled flag for the regeneration system
  • a priority number, used when regions overlap
  • its own block rules
  • an exclusion list
  • an inventory-collect flag, see Regeneration Engine
  • a farm zone flag, see Farm Zone

Every change a command makes to a region is written to regions.yml immediately, so the file and the in-game state never drift apart.

Enabled and disabled regions

Toggle a region with /rz toggle <name> [on/off].

  • Enabled, the default: handled blocks broken inside the region are swapped and scheduled for regeneration.
  • Disabled: the region does nothing. Blocks can be added or removed freely, nothing is swapped and nothing regenerates. This is a build mode, useful while you are still shaping the area. Anything already pending from before you disabled it stays pending, handled by /rz regen <name> or left to finish on its own.

Overlapping regions

Two regions can cover the same space. RegenZones resolves that with priority, set per region with /rz priority <name> <number>.

  • The region with the higher priority number wins.
  • If two overlapping regions share the same priority, the one created first wins. The tie is logged once at debug level, nothing is shown to players.

Moving, inspecting and removing a region

  • /rz redefine <name> moves an existing region to your current selection.
  • /rz rename <name> <newname> renames a region, carrying every rule, flag and exclusion across to the new name. The old name stops working immediately.
  • /rz info <name> shows its corners, priority, state, rules and how many blocks are currently pending.
  • /rz list lists every region with its world and enabled state.
  • /rz tp <name> teleports you to the region's centre.
  • /rz delete <name> restores every pending block in the region first, then deletes it.

See Commands for the full table with permissions, or Config GUI to do all of this by clicking through a menu instead.
