Farm Zone
Farmland that survives, and crops that grow on their own.
A farm zone is a region flagged so its farmland stops reverting to dirt, and its crops advance through their growth stages on a timer of their own, independent of light and water.
Turning it on
/rz farmland <name> [on/off]With no on/off, it toggles whatever the region is currently set to.
farm.preserve-farmland in config.yml is the default a region falls back to when it
has not set this itself, off by default. See Configuration.
Farmland persistence
Vanilla turns FARMLAND back into DIRT two ways, both covered in a flagged region:
- Drying out, the random tick that dries unwatered farmland.
- Trampling, an entity landing on farmland and turning it to dirt. This is
overwhelmingly caused by a player jumping on it, not a mob, so it is covered
regardless of
sources.mobin Protection and Break Sources.
Active crop growth
Every farm.growth-interval, a flagged region's crops advance farm.growth-amount
growth stages, on their own, whether or not they have light or water nearby.
This does not fight or cancel vanilla's own growth events, it just ticks growth alongside them. A well lit, watered crop in a farm zone still grows from vanilla ticks too, on top of the farm zone's own schedule.
A crop that is a pending placeholder, a CARROTS[age=0] replace-with waiting on its
regen time, is skipped. It stays at the stage its rule put it at until the restore
brings the grown crop back, and with the strict lock on it cannot be harvested early.
Pair the farm flag with /rz placed <name> on and planting a crop in the zone puts it
straight into that same waiting state, see
Placed blocks become delay blocks.
The scan is budgeted across ticks the same way the regeneration engine budgets restores
with regeneration.blocks-per-tick, so a large farm zone does not turn into a
full-volume scan in a single tick. farm.max-volume caps how big a region can be and
still have the flag honoured, 0 means no limit. Turning the flag on for a region over
that cap is rejected with an error naming the region's actual volume and the limit.
